what branding is not, and is.
Branding is not…
making things look pretty that are not
faking it till you make it
nonsense from designers to get you to work with them
Rather, branding is…
telling a true story of who you are in a particular way so that your clients are helped in “x” way
representing the character and story of your brand simply, uniquely, concisely, and consistently
making a way for you and your clients to easily talk about and identify your brand
Why is this important? Because what your brand needs is not new, flashy visuals that keep up with the trends. You do not need to pretend to look like a company you are not just to appear “professional”. You do not need to hire a designer unless you are sure that you want to spend money on branding/rebranding.
What your brand does need is a consistent, thoughtful, beautiful, compelling way to communicate with and connect with your audience and ideal client. Your clients need to see your logo and immediately remember that you help them do “x”. Your clients need to be reminded of who you are and what it feels like to interact with your brand by just seeing a color (ex. When I see a red tool, I don’t even have to look at the logo, I immediately think of Milwaukee tools). You need a quick way for your clients to get who you are. Golden arches? I’m lovin’ it? McDonalds - everyone knows that in a heartbeat.
